Notarized documents are required if:

The NRI’s PAN (Permanent Account Number) is not already KYC verified as an NRI.

In such cases, the following documents need to be notarized by an authorized authority:

PAN card

Passport

Proof of Indian and foreign addresses

Who can notarize these documents?

   Notarization must be done by one of the following authorities:

Authorized officials from overseas branches of Indian banks

Public notaries

Court magistrates or judges

Banks registered in India (like scheduled commercial or multinational banks)  You can view the list of banks by visiting the RBI website.

Indian embassy or consulate in the NRI’s country of residence

The authority doing the notarization must stamp the document with a “Verified with the stamp and include their name, designation, signature, and the date.

When are notarized documents not required?

You do not need notarized documents in the following cases:

If the NRI is in India and visits a Jainam office, they can self-attest the documents. They must carry the original documents along with a copy of the latest immigration stamp on their passport.

If the NRI’s address is already verified during the KYC process.
