Why are PAN and Aadhaar collected via DigiLocker while completing KYC with Jainam?

PAN and Aadhaar are collected through DigiLocker during the KYC process to verify your identity as per SEBI norms:

  • PAN is fetched to match your name with the Income Tax Department (ITD) records.
  • Aadhaar is used to capture your photo for IPV (In-Person Verification) and to update your KYC address.
  • If PAN and Aadhaar details are not linked or fetched properly, you may face an “Invalid Consent” error. This usually happens if:
    1. You skip selecting PAN or Aadhaar during DigiLocker linking, or
    2. Your PAN or Aadhaar is not yet added to your DigiLocker account.

To avoid the error, follow the steps below to fetch both documents in DigiLocker:

On the Digilocker App:

  1. Open the DigiLocker → Tap on Search
  2. Select Income Tax Department (for PAN) or UIDAI (for Aadhaar)
    1. For PAN: Tap on PAN Verification Record → Enter your PAN number and name → Tap Get Document.
    2. For Aadhaar: Tap on Aadhaar → Tap Verify, enter the OTP → Tap Submit.

On the Digilocker Website:

  1. Visit www.digilocker.gov.in and log in
  2. Click on Search Documents
  3. Under Central Government, click View All
  4. Select: Income Tax Department → PAN Verification Record, UIDAI → Aadhaar Card
  5. Give consent, enter the OTP, and click Update
