When is a signature correction mandatory?

  • Signature correction refers to re-signing or validating a correction when a signature or any part of the form has been altered or mistakenly filled.
  • A signature correction becomes necessary during account opening or modification in the following situations:
    1. If whitener (correction fluid) is used on the form:
The use of whitener is  not allowed on any part of the account opening or modification form. If whitener is used even to correct a signature the form becomes invalid and must be filled out again  Such forms are non-compliant and cannot be processed.
    2. If a correction is made using a strike-off without whitener:
If an error is corrected by striking off the incorrect detail and marking the correction with an arrow (e.g., using pencil or pen) and signing beside it, the correction is considered compliant.
Such corrections are permitted under compliance guidelines, and the form remains valid.
