When and where is my SGB interest credited, and how does it appear in my bank statement or passbook?

SGB interest is credited semi-annually to the bank account linked with your demat account at the rate of 2.5% per annum paid semi-annually.
The narration in your bank statement depends on your depository:

  • If the SGB units are held in a CDSL DP, the narration will appear as "Central Depository Services Limited."
  • If the units are held in an NSDL DP, the narration will show as "National Securities Depository Limited."
