MTF funding is the broker-funded portion of an eligible MTF purchase. It is recorded in the MTF Funding Ledger and remains outstanding until reduced through client payments, eligible ledger credits, sale of funded securities, or other policy-defined funding release events. 

Key Point: 

MTF funding represents the broker-funded amount of an MTF transaction and not the client-funded portion. As long as this amount remains outstanding in the MTF Funding Ledger, it continues to be treated as broker funding until reduced through eligible funding release events as per the MTF policy.
