What are the documents required for account opening at Jainam by an HUF?

HUF accounts must be opened through an offline process at Jainam, unlike resident individual accounts, which can be opened online.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ACCOUNT OPENING OF HUF

Identification Proof

Provide all of the following documents:

  1. HUF PAN card copy with seal and signature.
  2. HUF deed (Optional)
  3. Karta PAN card copy (self-attested)
  4. PAN number details of all co-parceners (self-attested).
  5. Karta passport-size photograph

Bank proof

Anyone from the following:

  • Personalized canceled cheque with the HUF’s name pre-printed on it 
  • Bank passbook/statement (should not be older than 2 months) with all the details clearly visible, such as holder name, bank logo and seal, IFSC code, MICR code, and account number.

Address Proof of HUF

Address proof of the HUF with seal and signature. This proof can be a copy of the HUF’s bank passbook/statement with the latest transaction details. (should not be more than 2-month-old),

Address Proof of Karta

Address proof of the Karta should be self-attested and with the HUF seal and signature. Address proof can be any Aadhar card (only a masked Aadhar card is allowed), voter ID, passport, or driving license.

Income Proof

Anyone from the following:

  • HUF Bank Passbook/Bank statement of last 6 months.
  • Latest year's audited profit and loss statement or
  • Latest Year Income Tax return (ITR) Acknowledgement or
  • Net-worth certificate from the CA (Chartered Accountant) with the UDIN number or
  • DP holding statement of HUF

Demat Proof

The demat proof is required only for opening a trading account or cash segment. Any of the following proofs of demat are valid:

  • Client master report
  • Holding statement
  • Pre-printed delivery instructions slip

FATCA Declaration

FATCA Declaration is Mandatory (PDF): As per current regulatory compliance, submission of the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) declaration is compulsory for all account holders, including NRIs and residents. RELATED FACTS:

  • When the date of incorporation is not reflected on the HUF PAN card, then the date of incorporation will be considered as 01/01/1961.
  • If Karta is female, then also provide an additional self-declaration form (PDF) as a hard copy along with all the KYC documents.
  • If the current Karta is opening the HUF account after the death of the previous Karta, a notarized copy of the death certificate of the deceased Karta must be submitted along with the Change in Karta form(PDF).   • If the co-parcener is a minor, the guardian must sign on behalf of the minor.

  • HUF cannot add a nominee because, as per CDSL guidelines, the nomination facility is available only for individual demat accounts.
  • The name of the HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) must exactly match across all submitted HUF documents.

  • In the case of HUF accounts, if the Karta is opening an account under the Individual category, the same mobile number and email ID as used for the Karta are allowed.
