To claim your unclaimed dividends or shares from IEPF, follow these steps:
- Entitlement letter: Obtain an entitlement letter from the company’s Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA).
- MCA Registration: Register on the MCA website. To know more, see the FAQ and video tutorial.
IEPF-5 Form: Fill and submit the e-Form IEPF-5 online. (Must refer to the official Instruction Kit for Form IEPF-5 (PDF) for detailed guidance).
Use the 'Check Form' after filling it out to ensure all mandatory fields are complete. If errors or changes are needed, click Modify, correct the form, and validate again.
Upon successful validation, you will see that form-level pre-scrutiny is successful. After successful submission, choose “Pay Now” even though the fee is zero to generate your acknowledgement Service Request Number (SRN). The SRN can be used by the user for any future correspondence with MCA.
- Send to Nodal Officer:
Send the following physical documents to the company’s Nodal Officer (IEPF) at its registered office in an envelope marked “Claim for refund from IEPF Authority”:
- Printout of the duly filled and signed IEPF-5 form.
- Acknowledgement (SRN) copy.
- Notarised original Indemnity Bond:
- For claims of ₹10,000 or more or for share refunds: On non-judicial stamp paper as per state's stamp duty.

- Self-attested ID proof (Aadhaar for Indians; passport/OCI/PIO for foreigners).
- Proof of entitlement (letter from RTA, share certificate, etc.).
- Cancelled cheque with your name printed or self-attested bank passbook copy.
- Self-attested PAN Card copy.
- Self-attested Client Master Report (CMR) of demat account.
- Notarised Death Certificate (if any joint holder is deceased).
RELATED FACTS: - There is no fee for submitting IEPF-5, but “Pay Now” must be selected to complete filing.
- The process involves two-step verification, first by the company and then by the IEPF Authority. Processing time varies by case.
- Annexures must be prepared using specimen formats as guides; directly printing the specimen format will result in rejection. If your claim is rejected, you will be notified of the reasons and can correct and resubmit. Always keep copies of all submissions and acknowledgements for your records.
