An unpaid or unclaimed dividend does not automatically become invalid after the payment date. It is maintained separately by the company and can generally be claimed by the eligible investor through the prescribed process. If it remains unclaimed for the statutory period, it may subsequently be transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF).
