How Is Dividend Processed for NRI Investors?

How Is Dividend Processed for NRI Investors?

Dividends declared by a company are credited to the bank account registered with the investor’s demat account or folio, subject to the applicable rules and successful processing of the payment.

  1. NRO demat Account

If an NRI investor has an NRO account, the dividend is credited to the registered NRO bank account linked to the investor’s account records.

  1. NRE demat Account

If an NRI investor has an NRE account, the dividend is credited to the registered NRE savings bank account, which should not be mapped to the NRI PIS account.

Note: Dividend payments are processed by the company or its Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA). Applicable tax deductions, bank-account validation and regulatory requirements may affect the amount and timing of the credit.
