How to transfer securities through CDSL Easiest?

Step 1: Registration to CDSL Easiest
Any CDSL Demat account holder can transfer, sell, or gift securities through CDSL Easiest. To know about the easiest registration process, see How to register for CDSL Easiest?

Step 2: Adding transferee as a Trusted account and Beneficiary account
However, before initiating the off-market transfer through CDSL Easiest, the transferor (person who is transferring shares) has to add the transferee (person who will receive the shares) as a trusted account as well as a beneficiary. To know more see,

Step 3: Transfer of Securities on the Execution Date:
For off-market transfer of securities from the Jainam account using CDSL easiest, follow the following steps:

  1. Login to CDSL Easiest
  2. Initiate Transaction Setup: From the main menu, select 'Transactions.'From the dropdown, select 'Set Up.'From the transaction list displayed on the screen, keep status as all and transaction type as off-market.
  3. Select Bulk Setup. In the Bulk Setup section, select 'Sell' for the transfer of securities.
  4. Select Execution Date: It is the date when the off-market transfer of shares will be done. To successfully transfer the shares on the execution date, this process should be completed by the transferor before 5:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday and before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday so that the Jainam's team can authorize the transfer before the end of the date. If the transaction request will not be submitted till the above-mentioned time, then the transferor will have to transfer securities on a new execution date.
  5. Select Counter BOID: Choose the Counter BOID (transferee/receiver's Demat account number) from the drop-down list of all beneficiaries. 
  6. Select Entity Identifier:
    • If your DDPI or POA is active, select N/A.
    • If your DDPI or POA is not active, select TM.
  7. Enter ISIN Details:
    • Click on the "+" icon to add the ISIN or shares to be transferred.
    • Enter the ISIN code (you can find the ISIN code in the Account ISIN).
    • Enter the quantity of securities you want to transfer/gift.
  8. Reason for trade:
    • Choose the 'Reason for Trade' (e.g., gifting, family transfer). If the reason for transfer is a gift, self-transfer, transfer to family members, etc., where money has not been transferred, the consideration amount must be filled out as zero, and the payment mode must not be selected.  If you select Family Transfer, you must enter the relation code also (e.g., daughter, son, or spouse). 
    • If your reason for trade is for off-market sale and purchase, then the consideration amount and payment mode and the bank details of the buyer should also be provided. Clients must also pay stamp duty uding UPI or using RTGS/NEFT/IMPS/net banking for that sale to CDSL before making the transfer. Clients can use CDSL's stamp duty calculator to learn how much stamp duty must be paid.
  9. Submit the transaction: After reviewing the details, submit the transaction.
  10. Commit the transaction: go to the transaction list and select scrip and click on Commit. You will be prompted to enter an OTP (one-time password) and then click Submit.
  11. Provide PIN:Provide your PIN, and the transaction will be sent to DP (Jainam) for confirmation; after Jainam's verification, the transfer will be done. To know more, see What is T-PIN and how to change or reset it?
  12. Sent to DP for authorisation: Every transfer through CDSL Easiest is provided a unique transaction ID. Go 'back' to the transaction list screen and select the transaction and 'Commit' the transaction. Your transaction will now be sent to 'Your DP (Jainam) for authorisation.'

RELATED FACTS:

  • Shares and mutual funds under a lock-in period cannot be transferred using CDSL Easiest.

  • Pledged stocks and stocks bought using the MTF facility also cannot be transferred using CDSL Easiest.
  • Jainam will authenticate the transaction done through CDSL Easiest on the basis of the client's trading account balance at Jainam:
    1. If the client has sufficient credit balance to cover all the transaction costs, such as DP charges, brokerage, etc., then the transaction will be authenticated by Jainam seamlessly.
    2. If the client's trading account has a debit balance, then the transaction will be authenticated by Jainam only if the value of his holdings is greater than the total of debit balance and transaction cost involved.
