Where are bonus shares reflected after a Bonus Issue?

Where are bonus shares reflected after a bonus issue?

Bonus shares are credited directly to the client's Demat account based on the eligible holdings as on the record date. Once the credit is received from the depository, the bonus shares are also reflected in the client's portfolio.

  • Bonus shares are generally credited to the client's Demat account within 3–4 working days after the record date, subject to the completion of the corporate action process by the company, depositories, and the exchange.
  • After the bonus shares are credited to the client's Demat account, they are automatically reflected in the client's portfolio.
  • A notification is sent by CDSL once the bonus shares have been credited to the client's Demat account.

Note: The actual credit timeline may vary depending on the completion of the corporate action process by the issuer company, depositories, and the stock exchanges.
