Can bonus shares be sold immediately after demat credit? 

Demat credit and trading availability are separate stages of the corporate action process. Bonus shares become available for sale only after completion of the applicable trading and exchange formalities. 

Example: 

Bonus shares may appear in the demat account while trading availability is still pending. 

Important to remember: 

  • Demat Credit ≠ Trading Availability. 

  • The applicable trading date should be checked before placing a sell order.
