When is a name change request permitted?

When is a name change request permitted? 

A name change request may be submitted in the following situations, subject to the submission of valid supporting documents: 

  • Change of name due to marriage or divorce  

  • Name change supported by an official gazette notification 

  • Minor spelling corrections in the existing name 

  • Any other name modification approved under applicable law

Name changes are allowed for marriage, divorce, or spelling corrections, with valid proof.
